Prince Gibraltar To Stud In France

Dual Group 1 winner Prince Gibraltar (Fr) (Rock Of Gibraltar {Ire}–Princess Sofia {UAE}, by Pennekamp) will enter stud next year at his birthplace, Haras de la Reboursiere et de Montaigu, according to Racing Post. The publication also reported the two arms of that operation–Reboursiere and Montaigu–owned by Gilles and Aliette Forien will be separated next year, with Reboursiere becoming a broodmare operation and Montaigu being the stallion base.

Prince Gibraltar will make his final start in the Nov. 1 Grosser Preis von Bayern Nov. 1. Owner/breeder Jean-Francois Gribomont bid out his partners when signing for Prince Gibraltar for €1.35 million at last month’s Arqana Arc sale, and he told Racing Post, “He could have kept racing at five but we wanted to make a commitment to French breeders. When I bought out my partners at the Arc Sale it was with a view to either continuing his racing career or sending him to stud. Aliette Forien made the offer to take a share in him.”

Prince Gibraltar is being syndicated, and interested parties will be able to view him at Deauville’s equestrian center during the Arqana December sale. His stud fee is currently set at €5,000.
